Bedford Modern School Rugby Tour South Africa 2011

Bedford Modern School students undertook a three week Rugby Tour to South Africa

On 31 July, 41 BMS students and five staff left Bedford Modern School for a three week tour of South Africa including Pretoria, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town along the way.

The squad was playing 12 games against six different oppositions and after flying out of Heathrow on an 11 hour flight into Johannesburg airport, spent their first night in South Africa being hosted by the team they would play the following day.

The 1st XV played six matches and won four; the 2nd XV played some excellent rugby but were unable to be quite as successful as the 1st XV.

Following the initial matches, the group travelled to Konka camp for three days of team building which included blind-folded kayaking, assault courses and zip wiring.

Following Konka camp, it was off to the Entabeni Game Reserve for three days of tracking big game including lion, giraffe, crocodile, hippo and rhinos.

Then it was back to the serious business of playing rugby before returning to the UK on 20 August having enjoyed a trip of a lifetime and memories that will stay with everyone for many years to come.

Thanks to all the staff that supported and organised this tour so superbly.
