A group of determined Malvern College students travelled to the Yorkshire Dales to take part in what has now become an annual CCF event: a sponsored expedition to raise money for Armed Forces charities. This was in a similar vein to the national Three Peaks Challenge that the CCF successfully completed in 2009, although with a subtle difference; the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge involved not only ascending three summits in excess of 700 metres, but also walking the 25 mile route between them.
The Malvern students set off at a strong pace and kept their spirits high, sharing songs and stories as they travelled. As the day grew older and legs grew wearier, the pace had slowed as the group approached the final and steepest peak, Ingleborough, having already been walking for nine hours. Everyone persevered, however, and returned to the campsite after eleven hours and twenty five minutes, easily beating the target time of twelve hours and receiving their reward of a nice roast meal.
Money raised will go to Help for Heroes and the Rifles Casualties charities.
