Song for success

Ruth Hoare, a student at The Queen’s School, has been awarded a place in the prestigious National Youth Training Choir. Ruth, aged 14, of Pen-y-Ffordd, is an accomplished singer. As well as performing in The Queen’s School’s Chamber Choir, Ruth has been studying at the Royal Northern College of Music since she was 11 years old. Covering the age group 13 to 18, the National Youth Training Choirs achieve increasingly high standards of musicianship and excellence in performance.

For some young singers membership of one of the NYCGB Training Choirs is a stepping stone into the National Youth Choir and even a singing career, for others it is a wonderful experience of the enjoyment and satisfaction of singing while still at school.

“I am really excited about this opportunity,” said Ruth. “I love singing and hope to make it my career in the future.”

Irene Jones, Deputy Headmistress of The Queen’s School, added: “Ruth is an outstanding talent. Unusually for a singer so young she has also been given permission by the Royal Northern College of Music to give professional concerts. We are all delighted that she has won a place in the NYTC!”
